Parents' Pages
Parents are always encouraged to take part in their child's learning. If they wish to discuss any aspect of their child’s life at school, or their progress, they are asked to consult one of the teaching staff by requesting an appointment in their child’s home/school book or through the office.

You may be aware that the government and OFSTED are monitoring attendance very closely and that schools are set annual targets to improve pupil attendance. In response to this, all of the Primary Schools within the Hurst cluster and The Hurst have recently considered this issue and have developed a joint Attendance Policy which is available for you to view in school or on our website. I have copied relevant sections below which shows that the main change relates to absence for holidays which will no longer be authorised.
Therefore, from the start of the new academic year in September 2011, absence for the purpose of a family holiday will no longer be authorised.Absence during term time as a result of holiday is increasing and interrupts the continuity of learning and thus has a detrimental effect on a child’s education. (Several school clusters in Basingstoke will also be adopting this policy.)
Cycling to School
If you would like to use the cycle racks at BJS, you need to download and complete the relevant form which should then be handed in to the office.
